Natural Resource Issue: Forest Health

Concern and Location: Wildfire hazard reduction and mitigation, defensible space around structures, beetle kill trees and wildlife improvement.

Three Year Goal(s): Improved forest health across landscapes and reduced risk of wildland fire in the urban interface

2015

  1. Increase education of wildland fire, defensible space and forest health with land owners, elected officials, and government agencies. Work towards regulations, practices and solutions based on science.
  2. Implement forest health improvement projects such as EQIP, Colorado State Forest Service and FEMA grants.
  3. Cooperate with watershed groups on forest health issues
  4. Apply for and/or implement at least one non-EQIP forest health grant

2016
